Solitaire turn 1 board with one card turned from the stock onto the waste

Solitaire turn 1: draw one card at a time

Solitaire turn 1 is Klondike where each tap on the stock turns over a single card, so every card in the deck is playable on every pass. Deals are checked by a solver, undo is unlimited and hints follow a winning line when one is found. No app, no sign-up, no interstitial before play; it works offline and from the keyboard.

How to play Solitaire

  1. Build the four foundations from ace to king, one suit each.
  2. On the tableau, place cards in descending order with alternating colours: a red 6 goes on a black 7. Only a king can move to an empty column.
  3. Drag a card, or a run of cards, to another column or a foundation. You can also tap a card and then tap where it should go. Double-tap sends a card to its foundation.
  4. Tap the stock to draw one card (Turn 1) or three cards (Turn 3). When the stock is empty, tap it again to turn the waste over.
  5. When every card is face up, Auto-complete finishes the game for you.
  6. Undo is unlimited. A deal marked "Winnable" was solved by the built-in solver before you saw it.

How to play draw one solitaire

  1. The rules are standard Klondike: build the four foundations by suit from ace to king.
  2. Build the tableau downward in alternating colours; only kings go into empty columns.
  3. Each tap on the stock (or the D key) turns over one card onto the waste.
  4. The top waste card can go to the tableau or a foundation.
  5. When the stock is empty, tap it to turn the waste over. The first time is free; each later pass costs 100 points.
  6. When every card is face up, Auto-complete plays the rest.

Turn 1 strategy

Because every card reaches the top of the waste on every pass, Turn 1 is the more forgiving game, and most deals checked here are winnable. The challenge is to win them without spending passes.

Treat the stock as a reserve, not a to-do list

You will see each stock card again, so do not play a waste card just because it fits. A black 9 from the waste on a red 10 blocks that 10 for the other black 9, which may be sitting on face-down cards. Play from the waste when it helps you uncover something.

Plan your first pass

On the first pass, note where the aces and low cards are. If you know the red 6 you need is eight cards down, you can leave room for it. The second and later passes cost 100 points each.

Keep the columns working

The general rules still apply: turn over face-down cards first, work on the tallest columns early, and empty a column only when a king is ready to move in. Keep foundations roughly level so you still have places to park cards of the other colour.

Check with a hint

Stuck on a Winnable deal? A hint shows the next move of a winning line when one can be found from your position. If it says "Keep looking", undo a few moves and try another plan.

Solitaire turn 1 stats and hints

Turn 1 keeps its own stats, separate from Turn 3: played, won, win rate, best and average time, and best score. The timer starts on the first move and pauses when the page is hidden. The first two hints in each game are free, and a deal's puzzle code replays it with ?p= in the address.

Plays anywhere, no app, no account

Tap the stock or press D to draw, and play every pile with the arrow keys and Enter; the cards resize so seven columns fit a phone screen. Tidy Puzzles runs entirely in your browser: there is no app to install, no account to create and no interstitial before you can play. After the first visit the game also works offline, because each puzzle is generated on your device from a seed. Every board can be played with the keyboard alone, on a phone or a desktop, and your stats and unfinished puzzles stay in this browser rather than on a server.
