How to play easy sudoku
- Fill every empty cell so each row, column and 3×3 box holds 1 to 9 once.
- Pick a cell, count which digits are already in its row, column and box, and place the one that is left.
- Tap or click a cell and type a digit, or use the digit pad; it shows how many of each digit are still missing.
- Press a digit again, or Backspace, to clear your own entry; givens are fixed.
- If you get stuck, Hint points to a cell and explains why only one digit fits.
Easy sudoku: what techniques you need
Every Easy grid here is rated as solvable with one technique, the naked single. At every point in the solve there is at least one empty cell where eight of the nine digits are already present in its row, column or box, so only one digit can go there. You never need notes, pairs or guesses.
The skill is finding those cells quickly. Start with the fullest rows, columns and boxes: a row with seven or eight digits leaves few gaps, and each gap is likely a single. For a gap, list the missing digits of its row, then cross off any that appear in its column or box.
A second habit is to follow each placement. When you place a 6, the cells in that 6’s row, column and box have lost an option, and one of them may now be down to a single digit. Chasing these knock-on effects is often faster than scanning the whole grid again.
Because Easy is rated by naked singles only, a few cells may take a full check of their row, column and box rather than a quick glance. Hidden singles, where you ask "where can the 4 go in this box?", often find a cell faster, and they are allowed; they are just never required.
Stats, hints and printables for easy sudoku
The timer starts on your first move and pauses when you switch tabs. Easy stats stay in your browser: played, won, win rate, best and average time. Undo and redo cover the whole game. The first two hints per puzzle are free; later hints may offer a short ad or a 30-second wait. A puzzle code such as A7K3Q (?p= in the address) replays the same grid, and the win panel gives a result to share.
Easy grids also print as PDFs.
Plays anywhere, no app, no account
Easy sudoku fits a phone screen with the digit pad below the grid, and the whole game can be played from the keyboard. Tidy Puzzles runs entirely in your browser: there is no app to install, no account to create and no interstitial before you can play. After the first visit the game also works offline, because each puzzle is generated on your device from a seed. Every board can be played with the keyboard alone, on a phone or a desktop, and your stats and unfinished puzzles stay in this browser rather than on a server.
